Sustainable Oil Recovery & Remediation (SORR) was founded in 2020 after its creators developed an innovative, circular-economy-based absorbent material for oil remediation. In August 2022, the company received a grant to implement a proof of concept. I joined the team as the lead for this initiative, where we collaborated with AWS and ARQ to build a digital twin, enabling real-time data capture.

The proof of concept exceeded expectations, resulting in our first commercial sale by the end of the trial. We installed the system at a contaminated stormwater outlet, demonstrating its impact. This success attracted the attention of local MPs and the EPA, sparking discussions on potential regulatory changes to establish SORR's solution as the new standard for oil remediation.
