Backstage Manager
Dubbed Australia’s most vibrant source of party vibes and good times. Secret Garden Festival was a 48-hour forest-themed dress-up festival located in Sydney. For 10 years the festival provided music as well as small parties, plays, comedy, games and art. With over 5,000 patrons attending each year, the festival raised money for charities.
For the final 6 years I ran the backstage area, this was the best “job” I’ve ever had. Each year I took a week off from the 9-5 to hang out with old mates while we painstakingly assembled an, often otherworldly, experience for the soon to arrive revellers. A week of long sweaty days and late nights followed by a 48 hour whirlwind of laughing, dancing and highly anticipated ice deliveries was the best way to finish summer.
